This protein builds up around the tumor and forms a kind of protective cloud that disrupts the immune system&#8217;s ability to recognize cancer cells and makes it less effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-3XNorvopVP\" class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-text nectar-blocks-text\">At Apmonia Therapeutics, Dr. Albin Jeanne and his team have designed TAX2, an innovative immunotherapy that targets the TSP-1 protein in order to &#8220;chase away the clouds.&#8221; By neutralizing this barrier, TAX2 helps the immune system better detect cancer cells and contribute to their elimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-ad8ca418fc\" class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-text nectar-blocks-text nectar-font-body\">TAX2 has demonstrated its potential in preclinical phases and will enter the clinic in 2026 to be evaluated in the first patients. This stage will notably make it possible to identify tolerance thresholds and the appropriate dosage, and to measure the treatment&#8217;s effectiveness in humans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-row alignfull nectar-block nectar-blocks-row nectar-l2\" id=\"block-6f4d1d2edd\"><div class=\"nectar-blocks-row__inner is-contained-content scope-block-6f4d1d2edd\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-column nectar-blocks-column nectar-block nectar-l1\" id=\"block-fa0aa199f4\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-flex-box nectar-block nectar-blocks-flex-box nectar-l1\" id=\"block-8def9220f5\">\n<h2 id=\"block-01ed499416\" class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-text nectar-blocks-text\">Cutting the Connection<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\r\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-column nectar-blocks-column nectar-block nectar-l1\" id=\"block-54e01fda80\">\n<p id=\"block-42355a1f89\" class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-text nectar-blocks-text nectar-gt-3dmEdFV6tc\">Other products are also in development, notably to target <strong>triple-negative breast cancer, a particularly aggressive form of the disease.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-wAWv2eUiJU\" class=\"wp-block-nectar-blocks-text nectar-blocks-text\">In this case, the product targets another key protein, cathepsin D, which is known to be overexpressed in several cancers.
